As someone who has gone to night classes in grad school I know for a fact that it is not the same as the day work. I know for a fact that drinking has been a large problem with the hockey players going back over ten years. I understand that we can not get the majority of players to be real college students but when I was in school they went to class and did the work. Remember back in the 60's and 70's five courses had to be taken a semester to be considered a full time student. My intent is to say how I can not understand how a Kurker can leave school with a full boat when he has come from a good school and must understand that his ability to make money in pro hockey is limited. If he does not understand this have him read the book "Fighting Back" by Chris Nilan which I just read. More than a few ex local college hockey players wound up like Nilan. Now let's beat BC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588925780510003226.post-42624501232394815962014-01-16T12:02:07.119-05:002014-01-16T12:02:07.119-05:00To Anonymous above:

If it was easy I'd be at John Hopkins Medical School right now. Some of the classes are basic CAS classes just at 5-630 or 5-6. MET takes the same time out as a CAS class. They have lecture, discussions, and labs (if you need a lab course).

Can most of these guys do regular course work? Yes. If you go through the information on the roster that BU provides only 1, if my memory serves me correctly, attends MET (Noonan). Some attend SMG, some attend COM, others attend CAS, and majority of the freshmen attend CGS.

Mister Worldwidehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06994460431926270212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588925780510003226.post-80153945227335689952014-01-16T09:07:32.159-05:002014-01-16T09:07:32.159-05:00To Admin above:

Our days were full and I have been in my daughter's dorm and can not believe the stuff that goes on in the middle of the day in college. The load to graduate is less than when I was in school and there is too much time on their hands. Some can handle this but not lately some of the BU guys. I still can not get over how someone can give up a $100,000 plus education when people I know are paying a large portion of their wages on paying back their student loans. Please don't tell me MET takes a large portion of one's time out of the classroom. I know better. Most of these guys went to private schools and can do regular course work. Putting them in MET is a lazy way to get them to play hockey.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588925780510003226.post-51627629723633419972014-01-15T17:48:18.424-05:002014-01-15T17:48:18.424-05:00There's an important point to be made about ME...There's an important point to be made about MET - a lot of the classes are offered during the day. Night school is a bit of a misnomer. Do agree that college athletes at high profile schools like BU don't take school perhaps as seriously as they should. Doesn't apply to all, just to some. Guys like Ryan Ruikka are obviously the exception to the rule. Also important to note that even those enrolled in MET don't "have all day to chase girls and drink." Team practices ~2 hours a day, plus lifting, study hall, etc. Adminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07353005105843586741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588925780510003226.post-45159055472570637792014-01-15T16:09:20.041-05:002014-01-15T16:09:20.041-05:00There seems to be a problem with these "stude...There seems to be a problem with these "students" not seeing BU as a place to learn. I understand many on the team only went to night school and had all day to chase girls and drink. When I was at BU (and I know times have changed_) the players who were in my classes were in the school of Ed and knew that their jobs were not in hockey but somewhere else later on after hockey. New recruits should be sent a copy of Chris Nilan's new book and see how a person who goes to a good school (Northeastern) and gets lost after hockey because he had no second career goal. I just finished his book and it is an eye opener. He (Nilan) makes Trivino look like the Pope.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
