Pats sign vet WR Holt...Jets agree to terms with Jason Taylor

According to a league source, the Patriots have signed veteran wide receiver Torry Holt to a one year deal. It could be worth as much as 1.7 million a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton. Holt gives Tom Brady another veteran wide receiver to work with as Wes Welker recovers from his major knee surgery. Holt joins veterans Randy Moss and David Patten along with second year Brandon Tate and Julian Edelman as the Pats' receiving corps. This move gives the Patriots more flexibility with how and when they need to take a receiver.

The Jets have finally signed Jason Taylor. The deal is worth 3.75 million for the first year but could reach as much as 13 million for the two years if all incentives are reached.League sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Taylor -- the NFL's active sacks leader with 127½ -- s tentatively scheduled to travel to the New York area on Wednesday to sign the contract.

Because of the Final Eight rules that restrict the Jets from signing Taylor for more in the first year than what kicker Jay Feely received from leaving the Jets to join the Cardinals, Taylor will be on the Jets' books for $1.75 million in 2010, but he could earn another $1.25 million to $2 million depending upon his performance.

There is a second year to the contract that has a $750,000 guarantee, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton. The first year of the contract is guaranteed, so Taylor receives a $2.5 million guarantee in his deal. Taylor's two-year deal could be worth a total of $13 million if he meets all the incentives in the contract.

Taylor is the latest acquisition by the Jets who believe that if they make the most off-season headline moves they will win more games. Patriots fans can simply wait for the team of felons to implode as we enjoy every second of it.
