Doc is coming back

Celtics coach Doc Rivers is coming back for one more run with the team and will honor the final year of his contract. Rivers announced his decision to come back in enought time to give free agents such as Paul Pierce and Ray Allen an answer to who as would be their coach in green next season. Multiple sources have also told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that Pierce plans on dealing with the Celtics to work out a new deal but will listen to other offers.

I still hold my point of view on Pierce. I would offer him the 20 million a year over the next three years and if he balks at it, let him go. This is the last summer to worry about a lack of talent on the free agent market. The Celtics could look at Joe Johnson, J.J. Reddick, Carlos Boozer and others to replace either Pierce and/or Allen to go with KG Perk and Rondo. The Celtics need a big man to replace Sheed and log some good minutes the first third of the season as Perk recovers from ACL surgery.
