Patriots to cut five by 4p.m. today
The team goes through the first of its two roster cutdowns this week as the roster must be trimmed from 80 to 75 today. This is only a minor cut down as twenty two more players will be released by Saturday to make a complete 53 man roster. 8 are eligible to signed back to the practice squad if they pass through waivers. These roster spots will be up for grabs in the preseason finale Thursday against the Giants and can be influenced by the rash of injuries the Patriots have been suffering from as of lately. If any regulars go onto injured reserve, this will open more roster spots for younger players to earn to replace them. Possible season ending injuries include offensive lineman, Nick Kazcur(back), defensive lineman Ron Brace(ankle), cornerbacks Leigh Bodden(leg) and Terrence Wheatley(lower body injury).
