Terrier Alumni Update

This is my foolish attempt to think about Terrier hockey without having to think about the Beanpot. So, uh yeah. Enjoy. Obviously this isn't a comprehensive list of recent Terrier alumni. Just the ones I felt like writing about.

Kevin Shattenkirk - The pride of New Rochelle, NY has been making a name for himself with the St. Louis Blues. Shatty played in all but one game with St. Louis last year, amassing 9 goals and 34 assists. Kevin is off to a torrid start with the Blues this season, posting 1 goal and 8 assists in 8 games played.

Nick Bonino - After bouncing between the NHL and AHL for his first few seasons as a pro, Nick has stuck with the Ducks so far this season. He's played in 8 games for Anaheim, with 3 goals and 2 assists.  The 3 goals came during one game as Bonino registered his first professional hat trick a few days ago. During the NHL lockout, Nick played overseas in Italy for Neumarkt, registering a ridiculous 52 points (26-26-52) in only 19 games played. Absolutely silly.

Colin Wilson - Willy has been with the Nashville Predators for the entirety of his professional career, save for a few AHL games in his first pro season.  This year, Colin has 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 games with the Preds. Definitely not outstanding numbers for the former All-American, but look for him to get it going soon as the rust wears off.

Brandon Yip - Yipper has also been with the Predators for the past few years, after starting out in Colorado with Colby and Shatty.  He's actual got better numbers than Colin thus far, with 2 goals and 1 assist in 8 games. During the lockout, Bobby Orriental (as Wilson coined him) trained here in Boston, often skating with BU and at Agganis.

Matt Gilroy - The former Hobey Baker winner has bounced around a bit since turning pro, but has spent this season back with the New York Rangers. He's been a healthy scratch for all but two games, and didn't register any points in the two games that he did play in. Matt played with the Connecticut Whale during the lockout, putting up 6 goals and 9 assists in 34 games.

Ryan Whitney - After training at Agganis with BU during the lockout, Whitney returned to the Edmonton Oilers when the NHL season resumed. His play has been somewhat lackluster to begin the year, posting 3 assists in 8 games. Ryan was actually healthy scratched for last night's contest against Vancouver, marking the first time he's ever been a healthy scratch in his professional career.

Charlie Coyle - Coyle made his NHL debut last night as a member of the Minnesota Wild in a tilt against the Phoenix Coyotes. Charlie was on the ice for a little under 13 minutes, registering 2 shots on net in the Wild's 2-1 loss. Chuck was on the ice late in the game for the Wild during a crucial power play, which serves to show the Wild's confidence in his game.  Prior to his call-up, CC played in 44 games for the Houston Aeros (the Wild's AHL affiliate), registering 14 goals and 10 assists.

Adam Clendening - Clenny has been playing for the Rockford Ice Hogs this season, the Blackhawk's affiliate in the AHL.  Recently a participant in the AHL All Star game, Adam is the Ice Hogs leading defensemen scorer, with 4 goals and 22 assists in 44 games played.

Alex Chiasson - Alex, a Dallas Stars prospect, has spent this season with the Texas Stars in the AHL.  Chiasson is fifth in the team in points, with 11 goals and 12 assists in 41 games played.

Eric Gryba - Gryba has been playing for Ottawa's AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators since leaving BU in the spring of 2010. BU's all time leader in penalty minutes was named an Assistant Captain for the Baby Sens this season and recently participated in the AHL All Star game.  Grybes has 5 goals and 4 assists in 34 games played this season, and is an astounding +23 (the best on the team by far).  His plus/minus total puts him third in the AHL in that category.

Dave Warsofsky - Dave was in the Boston Bruins pre-season training camp, but was sent back to Providence after their first regular season game. In Providence, Dave has amassed 3 goals and 10 assists in 37 games played.

Colby Cohen - Sidelined by injuries this season, Colby has played in only 19 games for the P-Bruins. The former "Black Aces" member during the Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup run has no goals and 3 assists in those 19 games.

Grant Rollheiser - One half of BU's former goaltending tandem has spent his first professional season with two different teams in the ECHL - Utah and Idaho. In Utah, Grant posted a 7-8-3 record in 19 games played with a 3.37 goals against average and a .890 save percentage. Rollie the Goalie joined Idaho on February 1 and has yet to play in a game.

Kieran Millan - The other half of BU's recently graduated goaltending tandem has toiled mostly in the CHL in his first professional season. Kieran has been playing for the Denver Cutthroats in the C, seeing action in 26 games. He has an 11-9-2 record with a 2.70 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.  Kieran did play one game with the Lake Eerie Monsters of the AHL recently, giving up 4 goals on 26 shots in a losing effort. He was sent back to Denver after the start.

Chris Connolly - The former Captain of the Terriers has been playing overseas in the SM-Liiga, the top league in Finland. According to the IIHF, it is the second best league in Europe (behind the KHL, I would assume).  Conno's been playing for Tappara, and has 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 46 games. Conno is third on his team in points and is twentieth in the league.

Sean Sullivan - After spending four years at BU, Sullivan has bounced around the AHL with quite a few different teams and has been playing this season for the Lake Eerie Monsters. In 25 games, Sean has 1 goal and 4 assists.

John McCarthy - A 7th round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2006, John has bounced between San Jose and Worcester for all of his pro career. He has 5 goals and 8 assists in 35 games this season for Worcester. He spent 10 games with San Jose last season, but only had 10 penalty minutes to show for it and was subsequently sent back to Worcester.
