Terrier Hockey Update-Captains etc

After attending the banquet this past weekend, there a few items to talk about.

1. Congrats to Matt Grzelcyk on being named the captain next season. He will be the first junior captain since Chris Connolly in 2011. The A's are seniors Cason Hohmann and Evan Rodrigues. All three are leaders on the team in their own way and while we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, the leadership of the team certainly appears to be in good hands for next season. Congrats to Matt, Cason and Evan.

2. Coach Quinn announced some of the highlights of the schedule next season but it is not finalized yet so we do not know the entire schedule. What we do know is below
- Michigan and Michigan State will visit Agganis in late October
- BU will travel to Wisconsin(X2) in January
- Union will visit Agganis in January
- BU will play an exhibition game at Walter Brown Arena vs the USA U-20 team on December 19th. The U-20 team will train at BU for 5 days before heading to the WJC in Toronto/Montreal.
- 22 Hockey East conference games
-2 Beanpot game(Harvard, BC/NU)
- 1 game at RPI(12/13/14)

That is 30 games accounted for right there. We have heard rumors of a Colgate game coming to Agganis as well. That would leave 3 open dates that we do not know of at this time.  It will be interesting to see who the remaining 4-5 opponents are.

3. The recruiting class will be finalized soon but we anticipate it being the 9 guys we have listed in the sidebar. All new recruits should be added for 2015 or later at this point in the process.

4. I would not be surprised if there were some(1-3) departures in the next week or two. Right now there are 5 extra forwards and 4 extra dmen counting TJ Ryan as a forward and a defenseman. The roster currently stands at 28 which is a big number that only works if guys are willing to take less ice time/scholarship money. We certainly never want to see anyone leave the program but it would certainly be tough to blame a guy if he could transfer and play more at a different school.

  1. That is not a lot of players as many schools have that number and Lowell had as many last year.

  2. Other schools do carry that many like PC and Lowell but not of the quality that BU has right now. Do not be surprised if a guy or two leave to go to a place where they can get more ice time. The 15th forward at BU next year could be the 10th forward at an ECAC school. The 15th forward at Lowell is happy to be on a D-1 team. I don't want anyone to leave but that's not what we're hearing is going to happen
