The Terriers would come back Saturday night and play another complete game. They would put 39 shots on net but Cal Peterson stoned all of them including a grade A chance by Danny O'Regan off a great look by Grzelcyk in the third. Sometimes you just run into a hot goalie and that is certainly what happened Saturday. He got his shutout over BU out of the way before the postseason which was nice of him.
The Terriers dropped to 5th place in Hockey East with Saturday's loss and Lowell's win which leaves them being forced to play in this weekend's Hockey East Octofinal round. The bad news is they did not earn a bye which is always nice. The good news is that they play UMass which is really just a glorified scrimmage. There is a 0% chance UMass takes 2/3 from BU. There is always the risk that they just do not show up because of UMass' reputation of being garbage but even so they should still take care of business. Coach Quinn has very little trouble getting them motivated for games this year outside of the away game at UConn very early in the season.
I know I called last year's QF with Merrimack a scrimmage and I don't want to be repetitive but when garbage teams come into Agganis, that might as well be what they call it. I don't think BU will get a bye to a HE Tournament championship like last year as they will need to travel to Lowell and win 2/3 next weekend if/when they get by UMass this weekend. I still think BU will take that series and then give me BC in the HE semifinals if they get past whatever garbage team get in the HE QF's.
