BU continues to own the recruiting trail

BU picked up a huge commitment for next season yesterday with star forward Shane Bowers of the USHL announcing his commitment to BU. Bowers picked BU over BC and Wisconsin because he probably wants to win in college and then play in the NHL which you can only do at one of those three schools right now. Bowers is the latest addition to another stacked class for David Quinn and Co. and should be the last the forward commitment for the 2017 class. Bowers joins classmates Logan Cockerill, Brady Tkachuck, Ty Amonte, and Hank Crone as forwards for next year's class.

BU is obviously loaded up at forward for next year and prepared for possible early departures that will most likely take place after this season. David Quinn and the rest of the staff are making BU a great place play and watch hockey. You see fans every summer complaining about guys leaving early to go to play in the AHL but that should never happen at BU. I would love for JFK, McAvoy and Greenway to come back next year for their junior seasons but if they don't they have very talented guys to come in and replace them.

Bowers is a huge get as he will be a first round pick in the NHL draft next June. He has the size and skill set every NHL GM and NCAA coach desire in a player. He should be another freshman who can come in and play top 6 forward minutes right away. It's scary to think about how good BU could be if they get some of their current high draft picks to stay at forward for next year. Assuming no early departures(which won't happen) BU would potentially have 8 drafted forwards and 7 drafted defensemen with a first round pick in net. Like I said, someone and most likely multiple guys will turn pro but the amount of talent this program currently has is unprecedented.
