It took 6 games, but the Boston Bruins closed out the Buffalo Sabres last night, 4-3 at the TD Garden. Goaltender Tukka Rask made 27 saves, and David Krejci had 2 goals and one assist to lead the B's to a 4-2 series victory. The other two Boston goals were scored by Mark Recchi (who also added an assist) and Miroslav "I Own Ryan Miller and his Mother too" Satan. The Bruins were in front in this one for the whole game, owning leads of 2-0, 3-1, and 4-2 - which was big considering the Sabres had scored first in every single game proceeding Game 6.
In such a tight series, it ended up being the little things that helped the BruCrew beat the Sabres. For example, the B's Penalty Kill Units killed off all 19 penalties in the series - the Sabres were not allowed even one goal with the man advantage. While the Bruins weren't exactly much better, they did manage to pot two power-play goals in Game 6, which propelled them to victory.
The B's await the outcome of the Capitals-Canadiens series to determine whom they will be playing in the conference semifinals. If the Capitals win Game 7, then the Bruins face Matt Cooke and the 4th seeded Penguins. If the Canadiens win Game 7 (unlikely, but a possibility), then the Bruins face the Flyers. Below, watch the Bruins 3rd period goals...
