The Sox won a 13-12 thriller last night up at Rogers Centre(I don't know why Canadians spell center like that) in Toronto. They overcame a poor start by ace Josh Beckett(3+ IP 8ER) to win behind 4 RBI from Jason Varitek and 4 runs from Marco Scuataro. The bullpen was not much better than Beckett until Bard and Pap shut the door in the 8th and 9th innings. Theo's run prevention strategy really worked in full force last night...oh wait they gave up 12 runs.
On that note, Dice-K threw a simulated game yesterday of 69 pitches and is on track to start Saturday in Baltimore as Tim Wakefield will be moved to the struggling bullpen. Alan Embree also has the possibility to be called up by Friday or he will opt out of his contract. Look for a couple of moves to help the struggling bullpen in the coming days. Dice-K is expected to replace Scott Atchison on the roster and Embree could replace Scott Schoeneweis. Embree has been perfect in his last five outings in Pawtucket while Atchison and Schoeneweis have struggled as of late.
