Day 2&3 Recap of 2010 NFL Draft

- The second day of the 2010 NFL Draft included rounds 2-3 and 4 picks for the Patriots on the day. They silenced the critics and finally addressing the needs of DE/OLB, ILB,WR and TE. Through the 4th round, the Patriots have taken a corner(1st), 2 tight ends(2nd,4th), an outside linebacker(2nd), a wide receiver(3rd) and an inside linebacker(2nd). These picks should silence the people crying to help the defensive side of the ball and give Tom Brady some more playmakers to throw to with Wes Welker still recovering from major knee surgery. You can see an in-depth analysis of all the draft picks here. The picks were as follows:
1. (27) Devin McCourty CB Rutgers
-Special team ace who also has the potential to be a shutdown corner against slot or number 2 receivers for years to come with Leigh Bodden opposite him in the secondary.

2. (42) Rob Gronkowski TE Arizona
- Give Tom Brady a big target down the seams. If healthy, he could be the next Ben Coates.

2. (53) Jerome Cunningham OLB Florida
- Solid outside linebacker who has the ability to develop into a legitimate pass rusher. His addition allows the Patriots to deal/release Adalius Thomas.

2. (62) Brandon Spikes ILB Florida
- Dropped this far because of his 5+ 40 time but is a straight up player. I love this pick. Spikes and Mayo on the inside for years to come.

3. (90) Taylor Price WR Ohio
- Gives Tom Brady a young receiver to work with along with Edeleman and Brandon Tate

4. (113) Aaron Hernandez TE Florida
- Another tight end here gives the Pats two solid pass-catching tight ends for years to come along with veteran block-first TE Alge Crumpler

5.(150) Zoltan Mesko P Michigan
- First punter off the board with good size 6'4" 230lbs. He will compete for the job out of camp with the Australian rules football player David King who was recently signed by the Pats.

6. (205) Ted Larsen C North Carolina State
-Offensive lineman for the future with Matt Light's contract expiring after 2010.

7. (208) Thomas Welch OT Vanderbilt
- Another possibility to take over for Light or back-up Vollmer in the future.

7.(247) Brandon Deadrick DE Alabama
- Defensive end from Nick Saban's system seems practice squad bound

7. (248) Kade Weston DT Gerogia
- Defensive tackle looking to make practice squad

7. (250) Zac Robinson QB Oklahoma State
- Developmental QB who could be changed to a different position in order to make the team
