A Whole Bunch to Talk About

If you are a fan of Boston sports, it's a busy time of year. The B's, Celts, and BoSox are all in action, with the B's and Celtics in their playoff runs. All three teams played Friday night, providing an insane amount of sports to follow. So here's the rundown...

Bruins
The Bruins entered Game 5 of their playoff series against the Sabres up 3-1, and looking to send Ryan Miller and his minions home to their buck tooth wives. Unfortunately, the B's came out flat as hell, were down 3-0 after a period and a half, and ended up losing 4-1. In a game that they should have been motivated to win, they looked anything but. And as stellar as Tukka Rask has been, he just couldn't match up to Miller tonight. On the bright side, Game 6 is in Boston (where the boys in black and gold have been playing well as of late), and I picked them to win in 6 anyways so that works for me...

Celtics
The Celtics came into Game 3 of their playoff series with the Heat up 2-0, and just came off a complete torching of the Heat in Game 2 (even without KG). Game 3 was far from a blowout, however - the Celtics pulled it out literally at the last second. D-Wade stepped up for Miami, dropping 34 points on the Celtics D. He was matched by our own Paul Pierce, however, including when it mattered most - in the final 2 minutes. Wade had a chance to break the 98-98 tie but couldn't hit a straight away jumper. Pierce stepped up for the Celts at the buzzer, dribbling out the clock and hitting a classic Pierce fade away jumper from just inside the three point line. That sends Boston up 3-0 going into Game 4, which is Sunday afternoon in Miami...

Red Sox
Ok, so the Sox aren't in the playoffs yet. They haven't even played 20 games. But still, every game at Fenway is a big game right? Right. The Sox, who recently ended a 5 game losing streak, were looking to get another W against a struggling Orioles team - and they did just that. The Sox won 4-3 thanks to a homer from struggling DH David Ortiz, 5 and 2/3 of no run ball from John Lester, and a save from Papelbon to shut the door. The game winning run came off an Adrian Beltre walk (does he get an RBI for that? Always wondered that), but hey you take them any way you can get them. The BoSox are 7-10 on the year now, but there's a long way to go...

Oh, and two more sports related notes:
-The U-18 USNTDP hockey team won the U-18 World Championships on Friday, 3-1 over Sweden. BU recruit Adam Clendening had an assist in the game. For the tournament, Clendening had 10 points on 3 goals and 7 assists, and was chosen as one of the three best players on Team USA, as well as one of the top two defenseman in the tournament by the media. With the victory, Clendening and fellow BU recruit Matt Nieto won back to back World Championships, as they were part of last years U-18 title run...

-Not to steal Quack Quack's thunder, but I am happy the Pats finally took two linebackers (including an OLB) and a WR in the draft. I was scared after the first two picks (a cornerback and a tight end).
