QQ's Edition of HE Regular Season Awards

So GW posted his below but everyone knows that he is way too unbiased in his rating of players around the conference so here are my awards...

Player of the Year- Garrett Noonan (BU)
- Noonan is tied for the team lead in PP goals with 6 and is one of the guys who just refuses to lose at all costs. He is crucial to the team on the PP, PK and even strength while also having some of the best celebrations in the league, all of which were factors in me choosing him as Player of the Year. He also posts a very efficient +18 rating which leads the team and is 3rd in the conference.

Coach of the Year- Jack Parker (BU)
- Parker led this team through large amounts of adversity and still has the team poised for a serious postseason run as they are currently 6 in the Pairwise rankings. BU finishes the regular season with 21 wins while losing 3 key contributors throughout the season in difficult circumstances. Yeah yeah Bazin turned around Lowell but those aren't even his guys so he doesn't count and he is from Lowell.

Rookie of the Year- Alexx Privitera (BU)
- This freshman d-man has 2 GW goals and showed some serious guts playing with a wrist that had been broken 3 weeks prior. He also leads the nations in pony gathering which is impressive for a freshman.

Best Defensive Defenseman - Patrick "Truck" MacGregor  (BU)
- MacGregor may only have 2 points on the year but he is a force in the defensive end of the ice and shattered one pane of glass this year. "Truck" has improved throughout the season and continues to take strides leading up to the playoffs.

Best Defensive Forward- Sahir Gill  (BU)
The case for this award could go to a number of guys as GW said Nieto, Connolly, Gaudet etc. I have to give it to Gill based on his PK play as he is out there for a large amount of PK time and has been very responsible in his own zone throughout the whole season even if that resulted in less offensive opportunities for himself.

Hockey East First Team
Forwards: Matt Nieto (BU), Chris Connolly (BU), Alex Chiasson (BU)
Defensemen: Garrett Noonan (BU), Adam Clendening (BU)
Goalie: Kieran Millan (BU)

-I'm throwing myself in there for my snipefest at the intermission of the Women's Beanpot Final game

  1. These choices are definitely better.

  2. "leads the nation in pony gathering". You just don't get that kind of analysis anywhere else

  3. haha and the most impressive thing is that he has 3 more years to gather ponies. NHL scouts are going to be after him hard for his pony gathering abilities.
