RPI Recap- BU hockey- refusing to tie since 2011

The BU hockey team played their first overtime contest of the season on Friday night against Rennselear Polytechnical Institute and came out victorious 3-2 on a Cason Hohmann goal.  Freshman Sean Maguire won his 4th start in a row and improved to 4-2 on the season and 3-0 at Agganis Arena. Coach Parker was less than thrilled with the effort through the first 2 periods as BU trailed 1-0 in the first before tying it up on a Ryan Santana goal. The goal was a result of a good drive to the net by Mike Moran  who picked up his first collegiate point with the assist. Senior Jake Moscatel also drove to the net creating the greasy chance for Santana. It was a huge goal to keep the team in the game at the time. The 3rd and 4th lines played very nicely to keep the team in the game during the first two periods. Moscatel saw his first game action as a Terrier due to an injury to captain left wing Wade Megan. RPI scored the lone goal in the second as they continued to outplay the Terriers The first two period the team played like they did in the 6-0 loss to Denver.

The third period was a different story as BU outshot RPI 15-4. The top line of Nieto-Hohmann-Gill played great together. The third period was one of the better period from Nieto and Gill all season even though Nieto didn't get any points to show for it.  RPI seemed to get tired and sluggish which allowed BU to tie the game up on a Sahir Gill goal and then win on a Cason Hohmann goal in OT. This was the first overtime game for the Terriers since last March in the HE QF against UNH. The team needs to keep this momentum going for their next game Wed vs Harvard. Hopefully Megan will be back which will allow the forward lines to fall back into place from the first half. They will be with the same 6 dmen however as Alexx Privitera is benched for Wednesday's night contest as a result of taking too many penalties in the Denver debacle. Postgame pressers are below.
