BSRS Weekly Awards- 11/19

You know your weekly awards are good when they start to sneak into actual journalist's articles. We won't name any names but you know who you are using our Denny Green award...

The Greg Jennings Award-given to the Terrier who best exemplifies the qualities of Greg Jennings through doin' shit and putting the team on his back. (YOU CAN'T STOP HIM)

Winner- Danny O'Regan, F- O'Regan had the highlight goal of the weekend to get BU on the board early against UConn. He made his way through 3 Huskies on the way to tucking the puck past goaltender Matt Grogan and moved into the celebration seamlessly. Nick Roberto, Kevin Duane and Matt Grzelcyk all put in good efforts the GJ but the celly puts O'Regan a step ahead.

The Joe Pereira Trophy- Given to the Terrier who, through grit, hard work, and determination helps the team to victory on and off the scoresheet. Just like Joey did. (Interview can be read here)

Winner- Kevin"Know your role" Duane (Nickname credit to @BurntBoats)- Duane is a back to back winner of the Joey P now after his performance this weekend. Duane logged solid minutes on the third line with Mike Moran and Dillon Lawrence as they played solid all night and were given more ice time because of this. They cycled the puck great every shift of the first period and continued it throughout the night. Duane also was a force on the powerplay as he is a big body in front of the net who knows who to take hits and use his stick to create opportunities for himself and his teammates. This resulted in a powerplay goal off of a Grzelcyk shot late in the second period Sunday.

The Buddy Powers Award-  Given to the best BU coach of the weekend

Winner-David Quinn- Two D's, Two N's, Two non-league points Sunday. Quinn needs to be given some credit for how the team responded from Friday night. He had them ready to go and we have no doubt he will have them ready to go again this weekend with North Dakota.

The Denny Green Award-Given the player or the team more or less, who is exactly who we thought they were(whether or not they were let  off the hook).

Winner- Merrimack- Another repeat winner who stole a point Saturday night in South Bend but has still failed to score more than 2 goals against any team not in Atlantic Hockey this year. That's just not good offense and exactly what we expect from Merrimack this year as they have no elite forwards who can carry the offense on their own.

Barilla Pasta Sieve of the Week- Derick Roy- The NU goaltender gave up 4 to UNH on Saturday night while only facing 26 shots. Sucks enough to know you're only at a school because they wanted brother. Must be even worse to actually have to play because of the lack of skill at your position.

Grocery Stick(s) of the Week- Kevin Keenan and Jeff Bunyon- The officials from Thursday night's UMass/BC game waved off the tying UMass goal in the third period by reviewing a non-reviewable play at the request of BC coach/cheating/coverup mastermind Jerry York. It was later pointed out that they messed up the calls in three aspects as they waved off a goal due to offsides which was not called on the ice and had zero impact on the outcome of the play. This game would have been more fairly refereed if there were no officials at all.

Calhoun/Boeheim Quote of the Week - David Quinn, BU *pulling UConn assistant Joe Pereira into press room "This is the best looking coach in Hockey East" Pereira quickly tried to claim he was only the second best behind Quinn of course.
