BU entered the third period trailing 5-0 and coach David Quinn said the team's goal was to win that period. The Terriers did just that scoring 3 straight goals in the middle of the period before giving up two unlucky empty netter late in the contest. BU got on the board on a Garrett Noonan one timer 8 minutes into the period as he bet Maine goalie Martin Oullette glove side. The Terriers went up 2-0(for the period) on a Nick Roberto deflection goal off an Ahti Oksanen point slap shot on the powerplay under two minutes later. BU scored another goal to open up a 3-0 lead on Cason Hohmann's sixth goal of the year and third in three games since returning from injury. Maine added two late empty net goals but it was a promising period for the Terriers as they seemed to find how they needed to play to be successful.
The road doesn't get much easier for the Terriers as they go on the road to face two of the better teams in the conference this week in BC and UMass Lowell. No "experts" or anyone(besides us) is going to pick them either game but as a team that almost came back from 5-0 and 5-2 deficits in the last week, you certainly can't count them out. If the team that played so well in the third period versus Harvard and Maine, comes out in the first period at Conte it will be a classic BU-BC rivalry game and maybe Sean Maguire or Matt O'Connor will be flapping his wings at the BC student section after the game...
