The #3 ranked BU Terriers improved to 6-1-1 on the season with a 3-1 win at Maine on Friday night.  The game certainly did not start off the way Coach Quinn and Co. wanted as Connor Leen put Maine up 1-0 less than 2 minutes on a short angle backhand that somehow got past O'Connor. The Black Bears wouldn't be able to beat O'Connor again though thanks to some solid play from both him and the defense in front of him. The Terriers tied the game up midway through the second on the powerplay on a great look from Evan Rodrigues to Ahti Oksanen who was wide open right at the faceoff dot and the Finn buried the chance. BU would take the lead that that they would not give up on a great shorthanded bid by Jack Eichel and Danny O'Regan. Eichel got the puck in the neutral zone and went on to absolutely toast the Maine defense before dishing a great backhand pass across to O'Regan who buried the chance. Eichel would later bury an empty net goal that each member of the OREO line would tally a point on the night.

The Terriers once again saved their best hockey for the third period as they limited the Maine chances in the third. Coach Quinn has even admitted he didn't expect a team this young to get off to this good of a start. They continue to excel at breaking the puck out of their own end and letting the forwards take over with their elite skill. The top line continues to produce for the Terriers as all 3 members added to their goal total for the year. Rodrigues continues to produce whether he is on the first or second line and Cason Hohmann has been very good all year as well but hasn't been getting the bounces so far. His points are going to pile up in a hurry once he gets any puck luck though. Quinn will be forced to mix and match as Robbie Baillargeon is out with mono and Nikolas Olsson was also out Friday night.  JJ Piccinich played up on the second line Friday night with AJ Greer Matt Lane Nick Roberto Chase Phelps Mike Moran and Nick Roberto filling ou the bottom 6. There certainly will be some more mixing and matching going forward due to the injuries looking for the increased scoring production.

BU return to Agganis Arena to face the same Maine team on Friday before playing UCONN in Hartford Saturday afternoon which will be a tough game due to the fact that it is a day game after a night game. New (very important and meaningful)polls will be out Monday and BU could be ranked #1 for the first time since February 2012. As a BU fan, I am rooting for them to stay #2 or #3. The polls mean nothing but as the #1 , that bullseye is on your back every game that you play and that is a tough way to play. UConn will have the XL Center packed on Saturday trying to pull off another upset at home. UConn's MO is playing to the level of their competition so far so you need to bring your A game. They have beaten BC and tied BU but lost to Sacred Heart this past weekend which is just confusing. Maine will be gearing to take you down at home as they will want revenge for Friday night's loss where they played an even game with the Terriers but came out on the losing end. This will be a big weekend for the Terriers to continue to win games that they should win and not let any of the outside noise affect them. They only have 4 league games left in the first half so every game is very important in the league standings.
