Greg Jennings Award- given to the Terrier who best exemplifies the qualities of Greg Jennings through doin' shit and putting the team on his back. (YOU CAN'T STOP HIM).
Winner- Evan Rodrigues- The senior assistant captain put the boys on his back this weekend picking up 2 goals and 2 assists for the Terriers including the GWG at BC on Friday night. Erod added two more assists on Saturday for good measure and seems destined to have a huge year for the Terriers.
Joe Pereira Trophy- Given to the Terrier who, through grit, hard work, and determination helps the team to victory on and off the scoresheet. Just like Joey did. (Interview can be read here)
Winner- Mike Moran- Moran put in his first two goals of the year this weekend. Friday night's goal was a veteran play as he banked the puck off BC goalie Thatcher Demko while he was down tying up the game at 2 early in the third. Moran piled it on Saturday night by batting a puck out of mid air and into the UConn net. Moran is a great third or fourth line player for this team as he limits his mistakes and always seems to make the right play while making life difficult for his opponent.
Buddy Powers Coach of the Week
Winner- David Quinn- Quinn has lead the Terriers to a 5-1-1 start to the year and seems to have them destined to win some hardware this season. The best part about this is I feel the team hasn't fully clicked yet. They are dominant for periods of games and pretty good for the rest. I am certainly not complaining but when this team clicks for an entire game, the other team will have 0 chance so hopefully they hit on all cylinders in March and April.
Honorable Mention: Joe Pereira, UConn- The BU '12 alum/now assistant coached his UConn team to victory over BC and a tie against BU this week.
Denny Green Award- They are who we thought they were
Winner-
Barilla Pasta Sieve of the Week
Winner-Thatcher Demko- Demko gave up 4 goals to BU on Friday along with 1 against UConn. The 4 goals on Friday weren't pretty either with two of them coming from below the goal line. The second round pick certainly isn't playing like one so far this year.
Star Market Grocery Stick of the Week
Winner- Noah Hanifin,BC- The projected #3 prospect in the 2015 NHL Draft was a terrible -4 against BU Friday and now sits at -2. He certainly has done anything to stand out to me as a top tier draft pick with 1-2-3 line through 7 games. BC might as well as throw a traffic cone out there and they would still lose to Harvard 6-3/
