BSRS Weekly Awards 12/3

Greg Jennings Award- given to the Terrier who best exemplifies the qualities of Greg Jennings through doin' shit and putting the team on his back. (YOU CAN'T STOP HIM)

Winner- Matt O'Connor- OC has been hot lately and Coach Quinn has rewarded him with 4 straight starts where he has given up 7 goals total in this span. He made 37 saves on 39 shots this weekend vs Cornell and was visibly pumped when BU held on for the victory. OC wins his second straight GJ

Joe Pereira TrophyGiven to the Terrier who, through grit, hard work, and determination helps the team to victory on and off the scoresheet. Just like Joey did. (Interview can be read here)

Winner- Mike Moran,F- Moran was flying all over the ice once again Saturday night for the Terriers. He not only tallied the first goal on a sweet pass from Danny O'Regan. His line continued to play well while also staying out of the box. It is no coincidence that the team has gone on a 4 game unbeaten streak with his line intact.

Buddy Powers Coach of the Week: Given to the best BU coach of the weekend

Winner: David Quinn- He had the team ready to play and kept them focused as the refs tried to give the game to Cornell once BU took a lead. Don't look now but he has this team playing hard night in and night out while finding ways to win. You can't ask for much more than that(just ask some BC fans)

Denny Green Award-Given the player or the team more or less, who is exactly who we thought they were(whether or not they were let  off the hook).

Winner: Holy Cross- They are exactly what we thought they were. The best Catholic college hockey team in the great state of Massachusetts. They beat BC and have done something that Merrimack has failed to do so far this season...beat a Hockey East team/score more than 2 goals in a game against one.

Barilla Sieve of the Week: Thatcher Demko BC-  5 GA on 18 shots is good for a .722 save % against an Atlantic hockey team isn't the best way to win games. BC fans are forgiving Demko because apparently the defense sucked, but we are not. If you let in 5 goals to a 3-win Atlantic Hockey team that had not scored more than 4 all season, you deserve to be made fun of. Deeeeemmmmkkkooooo, Deeeeemmmmkkkoooooo, Deeeemmmmmmkoooo...you suck!

Shaw's Star Market Grocery Stick of the Week: Jerry York,BC- If your team of 'superstars' gives up 5 goals and sleep walks through the first 50 minutes of a game against an Atlantic Hockey team, you probably didn't coach them up that well. You probably aren't much of a motivator either. York may have just spread himself too think between covering up felonies, paying refs to review unreviewable plays etc. Maybe he should focus on coaching. The one move I do agree with was to keep Linell on defense. You keep doing you Jerry. Don't let your own fans tell you otherwise. It's a brilliant move! Brilliant!

Calhoun/Boeheim quote of the Week: David Quinn, BU - "In 20 years of coaching, I don't know if I've been prouder of a group of guys than I am right now"
