BU takes 3 of 4 fake nonleague points from Wisconsin

The BU Terriers traveled to Madison this weekend to face the lowly Wisconsin  Badgers. Wisconsin was ranked 56th out of 58 D-1 collegiate hockey teams coming into the weekend. BU struggled Friday night and found themselves down 2-1 late in the third when one of the weirdest goals of all time was scored by Wisconsin. BU goalie Matt O'Connor came out of the net to play a puck and somehow shot the puck into dman Brien Diffley who could not prevent the puck from trickling into the net.  After said goal, I tweeted the following because I'm pyschic.

BU responded by scoring with 1:34 on an Ahti Oksanen goal. Oksanen would score again with 2.2 seconds left on a Matt Gryzelcyk shot to tie the game and send the BU bench and fans in attendance into celebration. It may be another 50 years before a comeback like this happens again well probably just 5 years for BU fans. The game ended in a tie but BU won a meaningless shootout after Evan Rodrigues and Cason Hohmann scored on both of their chances while Matt O'Connor made two saves.

BU responded to the thrilling tie with a slow first period before manhandling Wisconsin on their way to a 6-1 win. Jack Eichel and Danny O'Regan both had two goals. Evan Rodrigues added another as the newly annointed "Rodeo" line scored 5 of the BU's 6 goals. Nik Olsson added the 6th goal on a nice rebound goal in the second period.  The win improves BU to 12-3-4 on the year heading into a matchup with BC on Friday night. While this team has struggled to score at times, it is hard not be very optimistic about this team going forward. They now begin a tough stretch as they face off against BC,Lowell and @ UVM X2 in their next four games.

I will be on the Eastern Bias(@easternbias) podcast tomorrow night 8-9 live at this link if anyone cares what I have to say to make fun of BC hockey and their pathetic fans.
