Weekly Awards 11/4

Greg Jennings Award- given to the Terrier who best exemplifies the qualities of Greg Jennings through doin' shit and putting the team on his back. (YOU CAN'T STOP HIM).

Winner- Jack Eichel- Hockey East isn't showing Eichel much love in their weekly or monthly awards this year but we certainly will. Eichel leads the league in points and shots per game as well as 2nd in +/-. He is the best player in the league whether the interns that decide these awards this week want to admit it or not. He has not even been named a top performer for one week despite having at least one point in every game thus far. We all recognize that these awards are meaningless but it really is just baffling as to why they conveniently omit him from any awards each week. Haters going to hate I guess.

Update 2:34 Hockey East named Eichel rookie of the month so ignore most of what I said above
Joe Pereira Trophy- Given to the Terrier who, through grit, hard work, and determination helps the team to victory on and off the scoresheet. Just like Joey did. (Interview can be read here)

Winner- Cason Hohmann- Hohmann could probably win this award every week with how he plays the game. He seemed especially fired up Saturday night and was forechecking the shit out of PC all weekend long. Texas Toast is becoming a great college hockey player and a real pest for opposing D's. I can only imagine how fired up he will be to play Friday at BC and he certainly will be fun to watch.

Buddy Powers Award- Best BU coach of the weekend

Winner- Mike Geragosian- When your goalie has a .958 save percentage on the season, it is tough to give this award to anyone else. Matt O'Connor has been lights out so far this year in part due to the much improved play in front of him but he is also making all the saves he should make and more.

The Denny Green Award-Given the player or the team more or less, who is exactly who we thought they were(whether or not they were let  off the hook)

Winner- Northeastern- They will get this award every week until they win a game because they are that bad. I do not expect them to win a game unless they luck into one against UConn or some other below average team.

Barilla Pasta Sieve of the Week

Winner- Adam Clark, UNH- Clark gave up 8 goals on 33 shots over the weekend to a good Lowell team over the weekend. That certainly doesn't excuse Clark's terrible .757 save percentage. I don't care how bad your defense is playing, that is flat out pathetic. Everybody knew it would be rough sledding for UNH after former goalie Casey Desmith decided hitting his girlfriend was a good idea but nobody could expect them to be this bad. Count me down as a believe now though. I fully expect Michigan State(who is not good) to drop at least 4 goals a night on UNH this weekend at the Whitt.

Star Market Grocery Stick of the Week

Winner- John Gilmour, PC - The Flames draft pick was a -2 on Friday night aginst BU Friday night before being a healthy scartch Saturday night for the Friars. Gilmour was manhandled by the third line of the Terriers leading to the first BU goal as well as on D that allowed a breakaway shorthanded goal to Jack Eichel to seal the game in the third. Not a good look for a drafted D who is going to be depended on this year.
