Why Your Team Sucks: Merrimack

Your team: Merrimack Warriors Hockey
Your 2015-2016 Record: 13-19-7 (5-10-7)
Your 2016-2017 outlook: They could possible be better but they will probably still sucks. Last year Merrimack got terrible goaltending throughout the year and anybody who knows the defensive style that Merrimack plays knows that they do not have the offensive firepower to overcome bad goaltending. You would think with this information Mark Dennehy and that fine Boston College degree of his would put two and two together and go get a better goalie since his returning started, Collin Delia, ranked 12th in GAA and dead last 15th in save % of qualifying goalies last year. If you thought this you would be incorrect. Dennehy and co are bringing in 6 forwards and 2 defenseman in this year's freshman class.

BU continues to drop in polls despite win

The BU Terriers mens ice hockey have fallen two more spots in the polls this week to #16 despite a 4-2 win last night in Burlington over Vermont. They have fallen to #16 in the USA Today poll behind three fellow HE teams(BC #3, Maine #13, Merrimack#15). This recent fall may upset some Terrier fans as the team got the the two points they could get this week and still fell in the polls behind HE rival Merrimack who the Terriers prepare to play Wednesday night barring any cancellation of postponement due to the projected blizzard for the game. These current rankings should give the Terriers all the motivation in the world to come out playing hard against Merrimack to prove everyone wrong including these "experts" who vote in the poll. This team will not panic as last year's team did but they know they got away with one last night as they got outshot and outplayed but still won the game. Coach Parker was extremely harsh on the team as was sophomore forward Alex Chiasson. Some guys simply were not giving their best effort and it almost cost the team 2 points in the conference standings. Here is how the rest of the the rankings worked out.
1. Yale- These idiots remain number one after a win over big bad Harvard who has so many drafted players oh wait no they don't.
2. North Dakota- My #1 team in the nation
3. Newton University(Boston College)- Hate them but they have been playing pretty damn well
4. New Hampshire- They continue to win but as the schedule heats up the they usually tend to fade in the second half.
5. Minnesota-Duluth-
6. Denver
7. Michigan
8. Notre Dame
9. Wisconsin
10. RPI-I hate these cheap
11. Nebraska-Omaha
12. Miami
13. Maine- This team has been extremely inconsistent and fading fast. They need to turn around soon or they are in big trouble and could miss the tournament all together.
14. Union- Overrated. I hate ECAC teams
15. Merrimack- I hate them even more but they have been playing well lately. Wednesday night's game is huge
16. BU- We will be back in the top ten by the end of the season I hope but we would be the last team in the tournament as of now according to the USCHO.COM
17. Colorado College
18. Western Michigan
19. Ferris State
20. Alaska

Just another crazy night in Hockey East...

So I just logged onto the Hockey East website to check some scores from the games tonight and my jaw(bill) dropped as I looked through the scores. Here is what I saw:
Providence 2 -Merrimack 0 - This score just makes me giggle. Merrimack comes into the season with all these expectations. You have their punk ass blogger claiming they are "as good if not better than BU" and should get home ice for the HE conference tournament. Then they split with BC last weekend after an opening tie at UVM. So coming into this weekend, I almost have to give them some respect despite how much I hate Merrimack, their blog and leader Da Costa the fucking Frenchman. After tonight, I am just laughing. I know it is early still but come on. You go into Providence and fail to score nevermind win the game. You can't score a goal on Providence...thats pathetic. Beaudry sucks if you just chant his name a couple times and say his mom is hot. No offense to Providence but you traditionally are not very good yet somehow find themselves in second place of HE standings currently. This is misleading as they have played more games than everyone behind them besides Lowell. But this game is a wake-up call to those losers up at the Mack. Beating BC at home gets you nowhere in this league if you come out and lose to Providence your next game. They played like they just won the SuperBowl kinda like the Jets do everytime they beat the Pats and then wonder why it has been so long between titles.

New Hampshire 2 - BC 1- This game really was a toss-up going in. Both of these teams are extremely skilled and it seems like UNH won this game with its goaltending. Not a huge surprise but always good to see those choir boys lose down in their rich suburb of Newton. BSRS and friend bought 14 tickets for the BU@BC game on Dec 4th so its officially a party now.

UMASS Lowell 3 - UVM 1- Really UVM? Ok this team must really suck for 1. Giving up three goals to Lowell. They have four goals in their last three games combined. 2. Only scoring once on them. They have given up 12 goals in their last three games. UVM's offensive woes might be even worse than we all thought. Or maybe Lowell did some really good crack before the game. Who knows?

Army 5 - UMASS 2 - This game is no surprise I guess. I thought UMASS would find ways to win games this year but it has been just the opposite. I don't know much about Army Hockey besides they went 11-18-7 last year in Atlantic Hockey and has already lost to UCONN and Holy Cross this year. The bottom of HE is really struggling against Atlantic Hockey teams this fall.

Niagra 4 - Northeastern 1- The bad news: NU loses to another Atlantic hockey school at home despite putting 43 shots on net. The good news: NU has only played four conference games which are the ones that count. They need to get their shit together soon though if they want to contend at all this year.

In other news, BU forward Yassin Cisse underwent season-ending ankle surgery on Thursday and will red-shirt this season. It is the same ankle he cut with a skate last year. He re-injured the ankle in the season opening win against Wisconsin.

I like what I hear from Jack Parker leading up to tonight's matchup with #7 Maine. He is not overhyping the game but stressing its importance to play better at home and even quoted the great Bill Belichick saying " As Bill Belichick would say:' 6 wins gets you nothing in this league'". That quote is like a combination of the two greatest things in the world: BU hockey and Patriots football.

Ok thats all I got. I am sure Redd10 will throw up some crap about how the Bruins sucked tonight and Thomas' hot streak ended later today. The Celtics won in OT though which is legit except no one cares because it is still November.

Hockey east has a rough weekend in out of conference play

Hockey East concluded the first weekend of hockey struggling against other conferences throughout the country. Yeah, yeah it is the first weekend but this is one of the few times teams play non conference games until the winter break in early jan. BC beat Northeastern 2-0 in conference blah blah BC is great. The more important headline from this game was Northeastern's goalie(Rawlins) making 33 saves on the choir boys. No big surprises in this game though as Northeastern struggled to score as they expect to all season. The lone bright note out of conference tonight was UNH beating Miami(OH) 6-3 which is a solid win to split the weekend with a good Miami squad. On the contrary, Maine, who beat Lowell 8-2 last night tied UCONN. Yes UCONN has hockey well kinda. They were 7-27-7 last year in the atlantic hockey league. How does that team tie Maine who is supposed to be #7 in the country and 2 in HE. Then Merrimack ties Niagra(12-20-7) 4-4, another atlantic hockey league foe. Merrimack is suppose to be like Jesus on skates this year. The Warrior Rink Rat freaks out on a daily basis over their frenchman Da Costa. To quote their blogger Mike McMahon " This is a good hockey team – a very good hockey team that should contend for home ice. I’ll be honest, I was really teetering on whether or not to pick them fourth. To be quite honest (and I’ll give you a little spoiler here), I think the Warriors are better than BU, who I have picked for fourth." Get used to that quote because it will be posted before every BU-Merrimack game to pump me up if nothing else. Yeah hey Mikey boy, do good hockey teams tie 12-20-7 teams in inferior leagues?...I think not. And your blog sucks...nice job jamming four teams into one post for your HE predictions that you started Labor Day weekend you fuck. I put all mine into one post and rant with no stats to back anything up and it is so much better than your " I love Merrimack. Da Costa is great" shit.
O.K. sorry for that. Rough day at the office but back to business... UMASS got swept by Minnesota which is no shocker but still looks like only BU has the only chance to come out with a winning record in non conference this weekend if they take care of Notre Dame tomorrow @4. UVM went 0-1-1 with a very good Denver team but a split would have been what they were looking for there.
